World Kindness Day

World Kindness Day

November 13, 2019

As our team was considering different stories to share on our blog, one story stood out as one of the reasons we feel called to do what we do.

A client in her 70s stopped by the office one afternoon, very much in distress. Recently widowed, she was missing her husband. She was also very worried about an ill family member. Neither of those two concerns were the reason for her visit, however. Our client had just been to a local dental implant office due to severe pain - pain that had kept her from being able to eat. She cried continuously throughout the appointment, saying that she felt like everything was falling apart in her life. The dental company had quoted her a fee of $50,000 for both upper and lower implants – a payment that would have to be made in full in two days in order to have the surgery that would give her physical relief. On top of emotional and physical stress, our client was fearful of having to take out her life savings.

With our encouragement the client agreed to get a second opinion. We contacted a dental office that we are familiar with where she was able to get an immediate reply and reached out to a local dental school for an estimate. Thankfully, our client was able to have her implants done quickly and at a fraction of the cost. She was able to keep her savings, which we believe left her feeling much more at peace and of course relieved of physical pain.

Our team is blessed to get to be a part of so many seasons of life. We get to celebrate our clients: births, new jobs, well-deserved salary increases, and so many wonderful things. We also at times grieve with our clients: the passing of a much-loved family member, a lost job or opportunity, a serious illness. It doesn’t take much for us to show kindness, or to take small steps that help to ease the stress of a client.

Take some time today to show kindness. It costs nothing, but means everything.

Please keep in mind that one client experience may not be representative of the experience of other clients. There is no guarantee of future performance or success.
